Annie Alleyne is an integral part of Bayview’s extensive history, having spent the last 35 years serving Bayview’s members. Starting on September 7th 1982, Annie had just immigrated to Canada 4 months prior, from Barbados, before starting her first job at Bayview. Fast-forward to over 2 decades later, Annie has remained committed to caring for members, having developed a great respect and affection for those she has spent the past several years caring for.
It was a great pleasure to interview Annie. Although she spoke very little, it was clear from her responses how much the country club and its members meant to her, and that was truly inspiring.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Sometimes it’s busy. The busiest days are Saturday’s and Wednesday’s. I get up at 3:00 am and take 3 buses to get here by 6:00 am, but I love coming to work!
What are your biggest challenges on your job?
Sometimes I receive many orders at once. This past Wednesday I served 20 people alone in 1 hour.
What is your favorite memory at Bayview?
Seeing all of the member’s children grow-up, get married, and have children of their own.
Biggest achievement to date:
Having served at Bayview for 35 years.
What do you love about Bayview?
“I love the staff and especially love serving the members!”
What is one interesting thing about you?
I like to bake and dance to oldies music, from the 50’s and 60’s.
Annie’s dedication to Bayview is what makes it such a wonderful place to be. Next time you see Annie, take the time to learn about her time at Bayview and how it’s changed since her time here!
