If you’re not familiar with Joseph Bowen, don’t worry; it won’t take too long before you’re acquainted with his larger than life personality! Joseph, better known as Joe has been serving members since 2005, with nothing but the best quality care. It’s hard to be anything less than happy when you’re around him, since he’s always smiling and laughing. He’s the friendly familiar face that many members look forward to when they dine at the club.
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Joseph and learning more about his time at Bayview.
What does a typical day look like for you?
It’s always busy. Even on a slow day, I’ll have members asking to see if I’m working, and if so, wanting to sit in my section. I also try to provide the best customer service to members, while also trying to help new staff.
Describe role in 3 words:
Biggest Challenges on the job:
Trying to serve members, while also helping other servers when there is no supervision on the floor.
Favourite memory at Bayview?
I think it was a year or two ago, during the Mealias Memorial, where no one showed up to BBQ. So it was left with me and another server to barbecue for 2-3 hours until someone finally arrived.
Biggest achievement to date?
I had a goal of trying to work 28 days without having a day off. I accomplished this! But instead of 28 days, it was 35 days of working straight, with no weekends off.
What do you like most about your job?
I love the members and majority of the staff, because they let me be myself, which allows me to feel comfortable at work.
Something interesting about you?
I was the first person to receive a staff award. Additionally, I was the first server to hit $3000 dollars in sales, and also the first server to sell the most wine in a month, which also happened twice!
Joseph’s positivity, kindness, and work ethic make him an irreplaceable member of the Bayview team! Take the opportunity to talk to Joe the next time you’re at the club, and we guarantee you’ll leave laughing.
